The GYROKINESIS® Method is a complementary form of exercise, performed on a chair and mat. It is suitable for all ages and abilities and can easily be adapted to suit particular needs. Gyrokinesis exercise is taught both in a group class and one-to-one sessions.
Gyrokinesis exercise was created by Hungarian born Juliu Horvath, to help him recover from debilitating injuries he suffered during his career as a dancer. Juliu created the Gyrokinesis and GYROTONIC® methods (Gyrokinesis exercise on machines) that offer similar benefits also derived from Tai Chi, Yoga, dancing and swimming . Gyrokinesis exercise gently the whole body using fluid circular motions in conjunction with the breath. It builds strength and flexibility whilst lengthening the body. The method has many layers, incorporating all aspects of the body to treat it as a whole – where there is pain in the body multiple systems in the body are usually affected, Gyrokinesis exercise works in harmony with your body to restore natural function.
This form of exercise is great for people with injuries, either to aid recovery whilst injured or as part of an on-going regime to prevent relapse. Or for anyone looking to improve their posture, build strength and flexibility, or generally looking to keep fit and active.
